I'll keep on being bold and using my tripod in DD...have yet to have any problems using one there and am surprised how many others mention that they do.  I even shot last time with my DSLR, alternated between 3 lenses, used a cable release, and set up shots for 5 or 6 minutes at a time taking multiple exposures, right in the middle of West End...no comments.  Maybe you other folks just need to put a piece of black tape across the front of your camera, and write the word 'Sony' in white on it - apparently we Sony DSLR shooters don't appear professional or threatening at all!  :)

If I'm ever using a tripod at DTD, and security approaches and tells me, "We don't allow professional photography here!" I'll just give 'em the standard Jack Sparrow reply:

"I'm terribly sorry, I didn't know. If I see one, I shall tell you immediately!"

Awesome idea!  I wish I would have thought of that in January...
