Took my Tokina 11-16mm with me to the Onondaga Redhawks box lacrosse game last night. I set my Nikon D700 to go as high as 10K ISO and I was shooting through glass. You'll see the difference on the one photo I used Noise Ninja on.
Onondaga Redhawks (in white jerseys) setting up a play in the offensive zone.

Although a bit distorted being towards the edge, this gives you an idea how much upper body protection box lacrosse goalies wear.

Redhawks Trevor Clark (2) fires a shot wide of the goal.

Used Noise Ninja on this photo of Redhawks Dave Limbouris (5) scoring a goal

Here's Dave celebrating his goal. No cropping done here so you can see the full angle of view.

In the square crop to pull in the eyes to the action. No goal on this attempt.

The 10,000 ISO experiment worked well. I got better exposures with this lens and the Nikon 70-200mm VRI.
