“The Haunted Mansion Organist”

The spirited organist from The Haunted Mansion plays a ghostly refrain for the guests in the ballroom.

Quite obviously, The Haunted Mansion presents special challenges and I use it as THE measuring stick for my equipment and skills when trying new things in Walt Disney World.  For this image, I used my Canon 1Dx with the EF 85 f/1.8 and had set the camera on shutter priority (Sp or Tv on the mode dial) at 1/100 sec with Auto ISO turned on to capture a sharp image while moving laterally across the balcony.  To give you an idea how strong the sensor on the 1Dx is, this image was shot at ISO 51,200!!

The Haunted Mansion organist is one of the tougher shots to get because by the time the organist gets into range for a shot, you are moments away from making an abrupt left turn to head into the attic.  I was prepared for this shot and fired away while trying to work around the railing and lattice work that line the upper balcony.  I think this turned out pretty darn well!

Some minor tweaks in Lightroom completed the image.
