“Can I Get Your Bag, Sir?”

Bellhop Brandon seems stuck in 1939 as he dutifully asks a Guest if he needs help with his bag after he checked in to the Hollywood Tower Hotel.

For the picture from the Tower of Terror, I duplicated the original color photo and made the bottom layer black and white in Photoshop.  I then used a layer mask to “paint out” the color version of Brandon which showed only the black and white from the bottom.  I then added a thin stroke (outline) and a white outer glow to complete the effect.  Finally, I added a little tonal contrast to the entire image and then applied a very slight vignette around the outside of the image to finalize it.  Although this effect sounds like it could have been complicated, it really is a 60 second thing if you are a little proficient in Photoshop.

The Tower of Terror is one of my favorite attractions; I could be happy just hanging out in the lobby and libraries without even riding the incredible ride.  The attention to detail is so wonderful- I really wish the Imagineers put that much effort into everything they build!
