“Sleeping Beauty Castle”

This night time shot of Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland features the Walt and Mickey Partners statue in the foreground.  I particularly like the balance in this shot, as the lampposts and the fence around the statue all add elements to complete the image. Sleeping Beauty Castle is a very difficult subject to get a good exposure of, as the bright highlights in the middle of the Castle make for a tough contrast with the more subdued lighting in the bottom of the Castle, making it difficult to achieve a really good balance without over or underexposing part of the Castle.

Although Sleeping Beauty Castle is less imposing than Cinderella Castle due to its small height, I think that Sleeping Beauty Castle is easier to get good photographic compositions of, as it has a wider base proportionate to its height, leading to more balance with less vertical distortion.  I love the walkway leading into the drawbridge, which gives a nice set of leading lines and who care argue with the water and trees surrounding the area?

Post processing consisted of adjusting the exposure, adding a few filters at low opacity, boosting the saturation and vibrance, and adding a very slight vignette.
