Mulch, Sweat, and Shears
“Mulch, Sweat, and Shears”
One of my favorite things to do in Walt Disney World is to check out all of the live entertainment that the parks offer. As much as I enjoy the attractions, I think the live entertainment is what separates the Disney parks from all of the others.
Mulch, Sweat, and Shears is a musical group that have been playing for years at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. They play cover songs from the late 1960’s through the 1990’s, but mostly classic rock. They even have an entire set dedicated to the 1980’s. The front man, Morris Mulch, likes to say that he was not cool enough to play in the band (tambourine and cow bell doesn’t count), but he is cool enough to manage the band.
As you can imagine, the show is loaded with one-liners, physical comedy, and enough schtick to (cough) shake a stick at. During the “What I Like About You” song by the Romantics, Morris, Axe (guitar) and Hedge (bass) always go right up to someone with a camera for an extreme closeup. Having blown this shot before on several occasions because I had the Sigmonster on my camera, I made a quick change and threw the Canon 24-105 f/4 L on my camera and told Morris to “bring it on”. I also threw the camera into 10 frames per second burst mode to make sure I didn’t miss out on my Mulch, Sweat, and Shears extreme closeup.
Last year for Pixelmania, we saw five (!) shows of Mulch, Sweat, and Shears during ‘Studios day… this year should not be any different!
